Re: Fences/DD Bench Saws

Response from user:

In regards to the many questions on replacement table saw fences, I built a Biesmeyer style fence from 2.5Sq.White Oak and some steel angle, nylon 5/16 bolts and a 1"sq.AL tube, 2"Al. Angle and a DeStaco Toggle Clamp and extended the table with wood, then put a 1/4" ply on top of the saw, and used a delta throad place to make a replaceable 1/4" thick insert. Since there is no way to align the blade to the miter slots, the fence is now easily aligned to the blade as is the miter gage. Anyone who want more on how to construct, may contact me at: cadguy5603@yahoo.com I haven't made or writen up anything for a magazine yet, but if there is enough interest, I will submit drawings and pics to PopWoodworing so others can use my idea too.

Table Saw Fence

Answer provided by Mike Van Pelt

 Q. When we talk about a 30", 42" 50 plus inch fence, what are we talking about?
 A.
This is the measurement or cutting capacity to the right of the saw blade such as 30” cut to the right of the saw blade.  Most saws have about a 12” cut to the left and between 30” and 50”cut to the right of the blade.

Sacrificial Fence

Answer provided by Mike Heavey

 Q. How do I attach a Sacrificial Fence to my Biesemeyer?
 A.
It can be done several different ways. I either use double face tape, and or clamp the board right to the fence. It all depends on the type of fence I need.

Best Fence Option

Answer provided by Mike Van Pelt

 Q. I have an old Craftsman Tablesaw that needs a new fence system. Are bolt patterns on the tabletop to rail supports standard or will I need to drill my table for a new fence? I'm thinking of the T2 or a bies if I can find one locally.
 A.
I have put on several Biesemeyer fence systems in my career.  They are in my opinion the best fence system on the market.  You will most likely have to drill some mounting holes.  I normally use a cordless drill.  You will find the cast very easy to drill.  The Biesemeyer fence system is package very well.  I do not see any problem of ordering one.

Table Saw Fences

Answer provided by Mike Heavey

 Q. I have a Delta Contractor saw with a Delta Pro Fence 4-5 years old. I now want a better Fence. Should I buy a Delta T2 or T3 or possibly a Biesemeyer fence. Bought separately, they all seem to be expensive.
 A.
If the pocket book allows, my number one choice is the Biesemeyer fence. If that’s a little to rich, then the T2 would do the trick.  Mike
